My name is Detective White, this is my partner Detective Rawls. We would like to talk to you about what transpired at 1334 Red Grove Lane tonight. That is your address, correct? "Yes." And for the record, your name is? "Rachel Smith.". Ok, Mrs. Smith, we have found that its more comfortable for the interviewee if you tell us what happened, while we interject when we have a question, or need further details. Is this ok for you? "Yes." Ok, well walk us through what happened tonight...
Um, Me and My Husband Tom laid down for bed around 11, or 11:15. I laid there for what seemed like hours listening to Tom snore the night away. When I finally started to drift off, there was a loud bang at the front door. Not sure if I was dreaming, or not I sat up in bed for a minute, to see if there was another knock, or not. When there wasn't any, I laid back down, but as I closed my eyes again, I hear BANG! BANG! BANG! at the front door.
This time I nudged Tom. Hes a heavy sleeper. I swear and bomb could go off and it wouldn't bother him. After a few nudges, he opened his eyes, and before he could say anything, I quickly told him that there was someone at the door. He said that he didn't hear anything. After a short back and forth, I screamed his name to let him know I wasn't joking. Without looking he reached over to his phone, typed his passcode, opened the Doorbell App and shoved the phone in my face. Blinded by the at 1st and I jerked my head back. After a few seconds my eyes adjusted to the light and the screen showed an empty porch. Not a soul in sight. But deep down, I knew what I had heard and I felt like we were being watched. I snatched the phone from his hand as he appeared to already be sleeping again. I starred at the phone for a few more moments and still seeing nothing, I relaxed a bit, exhaled, and rubbed my face a few times. I must be going crazy, I thought. At that instant a white cat appeared on the screen, moving from one side of the porch to the other. Moving slowly like it was stalking an unseen prey. As the cat continued across the lawn it stopped and appeared to look directly into the camera. As I peered closer into the phone, the screen went blank. I started pushing buttons, trying to bring the app back up when there was a single bang at the door, but this one was much, much louder than the rest. So loud in fact, I dropped the phone as I was startled. Reaching between the sheets, I quickly gathered the phone and the App was back open. And even though just a few seconds earlier there was a bang at the door, the screen was empty again. I couldn't see anyone and the cat was gone.
As this point, mixing being fed up and still on edge, I walked downstairs to sit in the Living Room. "That's interesting, why is that?" Well, I kind of wanted to try to catch whoever it was banging on our door. I mean, it had to be some prankers right? "Ah, sure. You can continue." So, sitting downstairs for over an hour and nothing happening, I noticed the battery on the phone was very low. I sat there for a few seconds debating on if I should just head to bed, or go get the phone charger to stay on guard.
Getting up, I head to the stairs. Reaching maybe the second, or third step, there was more bangs at the door. This time, 2 bangs, in 2 pairs. Quickly looking down at the phone again, theres no one within camera view, which is odd, because no one is THAT fast! Rushing to the door as fast as I could I placed my eye to the peephole. Before I completely realized what I was looking at, my entire body turned cold.
On my porch, there was standing a young lady. Long Blonde hair, hanging down past her shoulders. Fairly pale skin, but her dress, her dress was something out of the 1800's. That one threw me for a loop. Oh, yea and she had her head down, so I couldn't see her face. I just couldn't take my eye away from the peephole. My heart pounded in my chest. She must have sensed I was there because she spoke for the first time.
With her head still down, in a very innocent and sweet voice she says, hello. "Are you saying she knew you where standing there on the other side of the door?" Yes! And up to that point, that was the thing that frightened me the most. Still in shock, I hadn't said anything, when she continued. "Maam, can you open the door please?" I opened my mouth to speak, but still I couldn't vocalize anything. my throat was dry, my chest was tight. It just wasn't a good feeling. I tried to swallow, "Maam, I really need you to open the door." There was a long pause and I was finally able to speak. H...How can I help you?
Now, this is going to sound weird, but the next time she spoke, its like she didn't speak at all. Its like she placed her thoughts in my mind. In my head, all I could hear is, "Open the door now! Open the door now! O-PEN....THE.....DOOR....NOW!" As you can tell, by my shaking now, I was totally freaked out. I slowly begin to back away from the door. I should have ran, I should have ran away as fast as I could. I wanted to be anywhere other than here, with this girl on the other side of the door.
After I was four, or five steps away from the door, she said, "Im sorry, please don't go! We need your help, please." At this point Im thinking "we"? You are the only one I see out hear. On cue as if she could read my mind, "Its my sister, shes injured and I need to call Mother." Sensing something wasn't right, I told her I could call the police for help.
The door to the interview room opens, another officer enters the small room and whispers into the ear of Rawls. Rawls opens a folder, points something out to White. White nods, Rawls excuses himself, and exits the room with the other officer. "Do you need to take a break?" No Sir, Im fine.
So, after suggesting to call the police, she said, "No!" Her voice with a sense of urgency that was missing before. That momentarily froze me in place. "If I don't call Mother soon(she continued), shes going to kill me." Still sensing something wasn't right, I told her Ill be right back, I was going to wake up my husband. Turning to walk up the stairs....She did that head thing again. "You mean spoke to you with her thoughts, like a Telepath?" Exactly, yes! "What did she say to you?"
In a voice so evil, so mean, so...unhuman, she said, 'You have three seconds to open this door, or I will kill you and your Husband!" And with that said, all of the oxygen in my lungs left my body. Gasping for air, my legs trembling and tears begun streaming down my face. In my head a timer started. Tick, tick, tick.. Pause. Tick, tick, tick...Pause. I rushed to the door, my hand reaching out to the doorknob. I look through the peephole for one last time. And now her head isn't down. Her head is up, gazing at the peephole, and I could tell She could see me. As if she was staring directly through the peephole from the other side into my face. For the first time, I could see her eyes. Sensing pure evil. From corner, to corner, her eyes were completely black. No white showed at all. Her smile just widened a little more as she mouthed two words, "Thank You".
"What was she thanking you for? What did you do?" That's the thing, I don't remember. I draw a blank after that. The next thing I know, Im sitting in the Living Room talking to you guys, waiting for Tom to come downstairs, so we could drive to the station. "After the girl said Thank You, you don't remember anything at all? " She didn't say it, she mouthed it. And no, that's all I can remember.
Rawls re-enters the room. As he sits down, he removes a flash drive from is pocket. Rawls and White leaning into each other, talking for a minute, or two in very hushed tones. Rawls, breaking the silence, "Are you aware that there are cameras set up in and around your house?" Yes." Are you also aware that these cameras were fully operational, including the ones in your Bedroom?" Not sure, Tom used the cameras a lot more than I did.
"Understandable, is there anything else you would like to tell us? Anyone new popped into your head that you would like to share?" After a few seconds of thought...No Officer, that's pretty much it.
"Well, Mrs. Smith, you have sat here tonight and told us a "very" interesting story. Full of great detail and imagination. But, after my partner reviewed the footage from your house, your story doesn't seem to add up." I don't get it, what do you mean! "What I mean is, there is no girl. There is no black eyes, no nothing. All we have is a lot of strange behavior from you!" Rawls starts typing on the laptop, that Im just noticing was sitting on the table. Rawls plugs in the Flash Drive, types a few keys, then slides the laptop over to me so that I could see the screen.
The video is moving three, or four times faster than normal speed. I watch myself exit the Bedroom and walk downstairs. I sit down for a little while, then I walk to the stairs, to the door, and back to the stairs again. Then I walk to the door. After hesitating for a bit, I open it. Not remembering opening the door, I uncomfortably shift in my chair. The door is all the way open, but no one enters. I simply turn around and start walking up the stairs. Behind me the door slams shut on its on. I walk up stairs to our Bedroom in a stride I do not recognize as my own. I stop on Toms side of the bed and I just stand over him, watching him as he slept. A tear escapes my eye....
Rawls hit a few key strokes and the video started playing at normal speed. I bend over Tom, stroking his hair, and touching his face. More tears fall from my eyes, as I rock in chair. I give him a kiss on his lips. I watch as I walk over to my side of the bed. Reaching between the mattress and the box spring, I remove the largest knife I have ever seen in my life. For a few seconds, I seem to admire the knife.... I climb onto the bed and position my legs on each side of Toms body. I jump up and down a few times, but Tom doesn't budge. I stop jumping and in a two-hand grip I raise the knife above my head. Im frozen in place for a few seconds as if Im posing for a picture. With Cat-Like quickness, I start brining the knife down towards Toms chest. NOOOOOOOOOOOO! I scream as the screen goes black.
WAIT! WAIT! WAIT! What happened! Wheres my husband! Wheres Tom!? I look back and forth between both Detectives as they are already standing. I don't remember who said the words, but those words will hunt me forever....
"Maam, You are under arrest for the murder of your husband." What?????? "You have the right to...…
My mind and body goes numb, I see lips moving, but I cant hear a thing. I began to weep and the room spins. I bring my red tinted hands to my face. I stand up and notice my shirt sticks to my body. Looking down, my shirt, pants, shoes, socks are covered in blood. Wet, sticky blood, still warm blood. My Husbands blood. Toms blood. My dead husbands blood...
I cry out, immense pain explodes within my chest. A broken heart perhaps. Rawls pulls his gun, White his Taser. I stare at them, from left to right. A look of fear on their faces. Fear, a fear I can taste. An intense hunger wrecks my body, but I smile. You are going to die over and over again is all the Detectives can hear in their heads as I let them know my plan for them. I smile, then I laugh. I laugh, as my eyes turn black... from corner to corner....Black.
