Ive been transitioning my hair so I have been watching a lot of youtube videos to learn how to take care of it properly. My question is when in the hell did this whole protective styling thing come into play?

What is this all about?

some suggest weaves or wigs for it

I understand wearing updos and braids but are you really telling me that people believe that a damn weave will protect your hair? .

yea someone suggested I wear wigs while I transition, I said fucc it and cut it low again.

too many people are wearing wigs.I remember when it was something that only old people did.

I don't know much about protective styling. I wear my hair straight most of the year and I wear wash & go's when it's warmer.

I don't wear wigs, but if I did, I'd get something very similar to this.
