Just moved my son into his college dorm room, he's a great kid and these girls are looking at him like a WHOLE MEAL

Think you got it backwards.
He had the student teacher relationship.
It works well when youre younger but when you get older, the relationship is supposed to mature toward genuine bona-fide friendship....some people too petty to see their children as equals though and always wanna maintain that same old dynamic even though the kids are grown now
