Now that HIPPA rights don't apply (slightly kidding) and my vaccination status is public record I decided to share my visit with my primary care doctor. Here are my thoughts and issues that I find alarming with how our care is being managed.

I am a 40 year old male and after catching COVID in November of 2019 (yes 2019) and needing months to recover I decided to make some lifestyle changes. I spent the last couple years getting myself in shape with better diet and much more exercise.

My visit was to discus preventative planning for colon cancer and concerns with the booster. I feel that since I already got COVID (my data shows almost exact symptoms in Nov 19 which she confirmed) that Natural Immunity and my lifestyle changes are enough to fight off a bad infection.

Primary Care MD feedback - although some individuals are doing better with health choices the majority are not. They feel that it is simply too hard to reach a person that can actually execute eating better, getting exercise, etc....One may ask, how do you come up with that conclusion? She sees patients' everyday and the data can back it up. They think most do not have the discipline and thus everyone gets a recommendation that addresses their needs.

Colon Cancer Treatment - no one qualifies for colon cancer screening programs until they are 45 years of age at minimum (direct parent family history) and most are 50 years of age. They are lock step with the US Government recommendations as to when cancer surveillance should begin. I do not believe the Government will pay for anything else which is why they are aligned.

Lesson - when these large hospital organizations align with government and CMS regulation your care becomes less personal. They have been capturing race/ethnicity data now for almost 20 years and many of the treatment options and recommendations are based on the assumption that as a nation we are fat, lazy, and unable to adopt and dependent on drugs to protect. Let that one sink in - it confirmed why we are getting the messaging we are about the vaccine.
