My boss has always been cool with me, I can slack off and work from home whenever I want as long as the work is done. We were all in the office talking about the Grammys and he stated that he doesn't understand why Kendrick Lamar did that when no one in the u.s has chains on them anymore. That's cool because most white people have no clue

But Here's the bad part......

He said I'm glad you don't get involved in that racism nonsense and that you come to work and handle business. He had me feeling like a straight sellout. Im sitting here at work like this

Obviously, you play it safe around him. He snuffed you out long ago...Oh you thought this was about the grammy's? Nah bro! He's been known you were a conformist. If you're going to be a militant or "pro-black" in any way, people will know it. I'm dating a white girl and even she ask "why do you hate white people"

Race talks in the work place are always landmines. I try to stay away from politics, social issues, and romance in the workplace because all 3 will end in frustration for me.

Only ever engaged in race talks at work two times, one right after the Ferguson riots and once right when the new Annie was announced. First time it came up I pretty much threw it all out there. Finished by telling her I don't hate white people, just some of the shyt they do, and it's not always their fault(a lot of them don't realize this is just a system they are brought up in so they aren't aware of how their language and actions harm others) but they still need to be held responsible for most of America's issues.

She respectfully disagreed on some things but was surprisingly receptive to the idea of accountability. Also said she doesn't know how other races truly deal/fare in current America.

She also said if we can make a black Annie they can make a white Roots so I know I can't count on her to ever really try to understand the plights of other races. That's when I said im not having that discussion anymore at work.
