They don't discuss or debate. From your example, she just wanted to say something to feel like she got you.
But their tactics work because they usually say something stupid to get your attention.
A good debate would have to have rules to keep people from saying incomplete thoughts. Not "everybody gets a voice" because as you can see, some folks shouldn't be speaking.
