The state superintendent of public instruction was taken into custody at Burleigh County Detention Center Sunday after an alleged domestic violence incident.
Kirsten Kay Baesler, 45, of Mandan was arrested on one count of simple assault, a misdemeanor.

Bismarck Police Lt. Cody Trom said officers were called at 2:27 a.m. Sunday to a residence in the 1100 block of South Port Loop for a reported assault.

A 48-year-old Bismarck man told police that Baesler struck him in the face. Trom said the man had dried blood on his face indicating an assault occurred.

Baesler had left the scene after the alleged attack, but officers later located her and took her into custody. She was booked into jail at 4:43 p.m. Sunday.

The Associated Press reported that a detention officer said Baesler was released Sunday night after posting a $150 cash bond. Jail records showed a court hearing is set for Tuesday.

In a statement late Sunday, Baesler said she had problems with her fiance for some time and thought she could handle them. She said that was a mistake and she should have sought professional help.

She also said she wouldn't comment further until legal issues were resolved.

Dude did the right thing...Marriage Is over now anyway...aint no use in catching a charge on top of it
Ive been saying for years that now that women are "wearing the pants of the house" expect more women to come home and treat men like men have been treating them since forever. Expect more mean backhands and perp walks for the "gentler gender".
