NAACP President and CEO Benjamin Jealous said Sunday, perhaps unwittingly, that black Americans “are doing far worse” than when President Obama first took office.
“The country’s back to pretty much where it was when this president started,” Mr. Jealous told MSNBC host David Gregory on “Meet the Press.” “White people in this country are doing a bit better. Black people are doing far worse.”

The black unemployment rate was 12.7 percent when Mr. Obama took office. While the unemployment rate in the U.S. as a whole is below 8 percent, the Labor Department reported the black jobless rate was up from 12.9 percent to 14 percent for December.
The worst during Mr Obama’s first term was in September 2011, with 16.7 percent unemployment for blacks — the highest since 1983, the Department of Labor reports. The black teen jobless rate hit a staggering 39.3 percent in July 2012.
The NAACP, the National Urban League and the National Action Network, among others, met for the second time on Friday to discuss a “black agenda” for the president, Politic365 reports. The coalition stated it will urge Mr. Obama to mention an urban jobs plan in his State of the Union speech on Feb. 12.
NAACP president: Black people worse off under Obama - Washington Times

Does Mr. Jealous make a valid point? Will the NAACP and their coalition be willing to apply the requisite pressure to get Obama to move on the urban jobs plan they want?
Discuss amongst yourselves. :troll:

The Wrong Side of the Tracks
Actually, the point he was trying to make is pretty much moot since many 'Black' people were under the impression that they didn't have to try as hard to find employment and/or improve their economic status under a 'Black' President. Like, because he was 'one of us' he would just give us stuff because he understood us and wouldn't expect us to, you know, actually work for it.

This is an incredibly misleading title. We are worse off compared to 4 years ago and compared to the US economy overall. But AAs have always trailed the rest of the nation in employment and prospects. That's not being worst off, that's being consistent. I'm more interested in the agenda he is going to propose.

NAACP has been the greatest fighter for real issues affecting black people in modern times. They don't get stuck on frivolous issues like some black elite organizations do. They never stand on the wrong side of any issue and they are basically in tuned with dealing with the real problems facing urban black youth.

Obama should give a fck what they think. So should black Americans.

Obama took car of everyone but the blacks.

Then when questioned about support for the blacks he said ''im not the president of black Amerikkka''.

He paid everyone back by nominations of judges and staff members.Made people czars and what ever the fukk he wanted them to be.

Black people got Vallerie Jarret and flu shots.

He literally goes out of his way to shyt on us.:drake:

it certainly can't be a result of how white america responded to a black president.

nope.

You'd better be Joe Biden as hard as you're going. :smugbiden: The unemployment rate is too damned high. Obama needs to be more effective in lowering it.

it's not about going hard. it's about recognizing how white america reacted to obama's first presidency. you thought that was something? watch how they react to his re-election. actions have consequences. black people will hurt because of obama's success. but there is no gain without pain. we will get through this.

The so called "Black Leaders" of America have been ignoring the problems of disparity since O took office. Obviously there minds weren't on Detroit, Chicago and Newark.
