There are times when making a sequel is a success.
Probably two of the most famous examples are The Godfather Part 2 and Terminator 2.
But over the years, Hollywood is absolutely destroyed some classic movies with their money grab.
Three examples that I believe are cheapened by sequels are:
The Hangover
John Wick
Taken
If they had just been 1-offs, they'd be legendary movies. But with all the sequels, it's all just a mess.
I'd argue that even Die Hard should have been just 1 movie. And I actually enjoyed the 2nd and 3rd ones. But still...
