Beanie Sigel. He had one of the most distinctive voices in 2000's Hip Hop. One of the best rappers on the Rocafella label. Put Philly on the map along with Cassidy, Eve, Freeway, etc.

Freeway. His first album including State Property.

Lloyd Banks. The best rapper on G-unit period. His voice before it got changed proved a lot of potential. He always had the hardest verses on those G-unit mixtapes. Banks doesn't care about being on the limelight lmao

Bilal. Heard of him through the track "Soul Sista" he could've passed the Neo-Soul torch from D'Angelo. His first album is a bonafide classic.

Andre 3000 . Bro had his eclectic own style, charisma, looks and one of top best spittas. After the colossal success of "Hey Ya" he's been in and out of the industry. Making guest appearances here and there. Everybody been anticipating a solo album from him. Felt like he could've been more.

Dragon

The DOC.

Foxy Brown. She had a lot of star power through Jay and The Firm in the 90's and 00's. She had sex appeal, street swag, bars. After her hearing loss and wildling out on recent reports, her life went downhill.

Mystikal. One of the most unique rappers of No-Limit. His James Brown esque voice easily made him stand out. He was like the southern version of DMX - so much energy. Had many hits including "Danger" and "Shake Ya Azz". He could've been more. That rape case changed his life.

Mos Def

Carl Thomas

Cassidy. Very witty and entertaining wordsmith. Could've spiced up the industry being a household name. Still remember Swizz hyping him out when he first came out.

Raheem de Vaughn

Max B. Mixtape king back in the 00's. Had the Harlem swag. The case fukked it up.

Big L. By the time his career was going to greater heights, he unfortunately got clapped on his block. Very devastating story. One of the greatest spitters in Hip hop period.

Sisqo. Thong song was enormous hit back in the 00's; in fact the whole album wasn't bad at all. Sisqo put Baltimore on the map. Those rumors that Sisqo was gay hurt his career.

Tweet. She had that Missy co-sign. What happened?

Why did no one mention Tyrese?

A lot of others mentioned topped out and reached their potential...or lacked it factor. Tyrese dropped the ball singing. Tyrese should have been on some of the hip hop hooks that R.Kelly and Usher was doing in between albums. Not to mention he should have had more than 1 platinum album.

I understand acting taking over his focus...but he dropped the ball there as well as he ain't transition into a full blown leading man...he just managed to get into several blockbusters as support and co-lead in a couple.

I still remember his Pepsi commercial and everyone talking about it and then he got an episode on Martin.

Another name to throw out there is Ralph Tresvant. Sure he had success with New Edition and had a hot single with “Sensitivity,” but as the former lead of anew Edition, he had the least successful solo career. He was actually set to be that next dude, but he sacrificed for the group, and they all ended up being more successful than him. If I’m not mistaken, songs that would’ve went to him (had he taken them) went on to be megahits, but he was trying to he a good teammate.

He took advantage of it to an extent but the answer is Method Man. Always felt Meth should be as synonymous with Black culture as Snoop Dogg is.
