5. Just having a working knowledge or interest in mainstream hip hop, can foster friendships, relationships and at the very least attention from the opposite sex during social gatherings. It's basically an icebreaker for even the most socially retarded motherfukkas

- At its most basic level, rap is an advanced form of poetry, so its participants are often highly intelligent with the ability to express themselves while using an amazing array of patterns and rhyme schemes all being done in rhythm. Hip-hop/spoken word can be used to hone ones speaking/oratory skills
- Rap is the most "complicated" of all artforms because of its advanced lyricism compared to all other genres of music, so for me personally I get a kick out of analyzing the lyrics and patterns. I don't just listen to rap, I "study" it. I'm very intrigued by the way rappers put words together. Damn near an obsession for me.
