I don't think that's entirely true. I understand, for example, I would never really know what it's like to be in the jungles of Vietnam during the war, but I can accumulate some wisdom through reading about it - which, if I want to learn about the Vietnam War, is the ONLY way I can gain insight (by reading someone's POV).
