Japanese love to appeal to white audiences and make their characters look less Japanese and lean towards something that can pass for some White european.

she is acknowledging the fact she is biracial, not black. You guys are looking way too into this and giving her too much praise.

If she dates a non-black man all hell will break loose even though she has never said anything bad about black people.

Also, why does she go by her mother's last name and not her father's?
we know what she's acknowledging she always repped both races, just usually when they've tried to exclude her Haitian side she has checked them. She turned down a sponsorship for it, it's a big fukking deal.

Nobody knows who tf she's going to date

And she goes by her mothers last name because it's Japanese law

You're right, nobody knows who she is going to date, but some posters made assumptions that she will date black. I was just pointing out how quick some posters will flip on her if does not date black.

So she took her mother's last name because her father is not a citizen of Japan?

I personally don’t think she will date black but I don’t think she will date white. I think she will date Japanese

And you right... some will.

From what I understand the name stuff is like this

”By Japanese law, all members of a family must have the same family name. The reason for this exception regarding foreigners is that foreigners simply don't count as family members (yes, really). So, for purposes of Japanese family law, your son's family will have two members: your son's wife, and their child. And they must have the same family name.”

So basically, as a Japanese citizen she had to take her mothers name since her father is a foreigner

There's no such thing as biracial in thecoli lexicon, you should know this by now.

Looks like the logo is still there :leostare:

Did she have to wear it through the finals? :patrice:

She never cut ties.
Sports Illustrated was the only outlet with that headline and it was quickly fixed. The ad was removed, they had a press conference that they'll do better in the future.

Somebody likely had a bad translation somewhere and this thread looks like the only hit in google that still is running with that wrong headline.
