Her depressed ass is probably why Cordae split up out of there, imagine being around that all the time

Yupp. Like this interview

- Saw a picture when she was 5 yrs old playing Tennis and had a flashback and said that she remembers feeling jealous that all the other kids got to play and be a kid, and she had to play Tennis

And this video of her in 2018 apologizing and crying to the US Open crowd for winning a Grand Slam title because she felt everyone was rooting for Serena Williams to win smh

Self esteem damn near nonexistant.

She got her parents to blame for her childhood away from her :francis:

Or she could just retire instead of putting everyone including the media and her opponents in an awkward and uncomfortable situation.

She's doing a disservice to everyone around her and it's not mean to say it.

If her inner circle isn't going to call it out, then someone else should.

That's not your place to demand.

Her opponents aren't complaining. The media isn't. Why are you?

Her inner circle would have more information to determine whether she needs to retire. I can't gauge that off of a press conference and neither can any casual fan.

Tennis seems to be a very lonely sport. Agassi speaks about it. Your interactions with other players are extremely limited so the comradeship is non existent. Coaches can't speak during games. It's just you against the world. I'm surprised we don't see more of it. The athletes need help. Not armchair fans demanding they shut the fukk up. She is cracking publicly but imagine what someone like Gauff was going through. Just because she has a strong upper lip doesn't mean everything is ok under the surface.

Like @Piff Perkins stated earlier, based on the sensitivity of the topic and the fact that she's a woman of color, they can't without getting criticized for it.

When you couple that with the fact about her inner circle not doing shyt about it, we're here now where she's literally breaking down on the mic after every press conference. She doesn't even have to retire. Take the time off to get her mental health together as it's getting worse and not better. We know that because we've seen it happen publicly for years now.

If they don't want people analyzing her and her mental stability, then don't keep trotting her out there and putting people in the situation to do so.

We've had multiple threads about this over the years. It's clear she wants all the perks of being a pro tennis player (money, fame, access) without wanting to deal with the rest of it. That's just not how professional sports works though. They say she's made 50+ million a year over the last couple years, she should have enough to just walk away if it's all too much for her
Yeah it sounds mean, and I don’t want to come off as mean about it, but she can’t have it both ways. If she had won her last match, I’m sure she would have been jovial and willing to talk to anyone. Every time she loses, she has a “woe is me, I hate myself and the world” attitude at the slightest question about what happened in the match. Then nobody can question her like you’d question a basketball player missing a clutch FT or football player fumbling the ball at the goal line for the win. Nobody can critique or question her game for fear of being insensitive to her mental health. I want her to get whatever help she needs, and it sounds like the game ain’t for her. But the “I hate myself and the world so don’t ask me why I lost a match” thing just ain’t gone cut it.
