Now, I'm thinking Premier is probablyat this guy for just giving away that information. Feels like that was supposed to be a secret until the track list came out.

If you want to keep a secret don’t tell a muthafukka with a podcast lol.
NOTHING is sacred in 2025. Everything is content.
EVERYTHING
Best thing to do is keep your mouth shut if you don’t want nobody knowing anything. ESPECIALLY if its anything about one of the most anticipated rap collaboration albums of all time.
I remember Statik said he heard some tracks and they were dope, but didn't give any other info. Gotta imagine some other Premo friends/associates/peers/etc have heard some shyt but aren't talking. I respect knowing and not telling....but like you said when you dealing with dudes who make money off "content" you gotta know they will tell the world whatever they know.
Speaking of Statik...imagine how wild it was for him to sit on that Lost Freestyle for years, not being able to tell the world you got a certified banger with Nas. That must have been agonizing, and I bet he played that shyt for Premo and others lol.
Well Statik had talked about Lost Freestyle before because it was supposed to be super close to making it on Life Is Good. Def Jam told Statik that it was making it on the official album and to clear the sample but I guess either Nas never finished it or they pivoted to another song at the last minute.

I don't know if "Lost Freestyle" was supposed to be on Life is Good or another Statik track, but Nas said he wrote the first verse and the second verse was him coming up with lines off the top along with notes he had in his phone. You can tell because the first verse sounds denser and more polished.
Wasn't his "Bath Salts" verse also recorded for Life is Good, or was that just a new song he performed at the release party?
Well Lost Tapes 2 was billed as songs from sessions that didn’t make Hip Hop Is Dead, Untitled, Life Is Good and Nasir and Statik only ever said he was close to making one album and that was Life Is Good so by process of elimination Lost Freestyle would be the song.
Bath Salts was recorded for Life Is Good and had a lot of hype even back then, I have absolutely no idea why it wasn’t included on the album and Summer on Smash was. Everyone who heard it was loving it and Nas and Swizz performed it several times, not just at the listening party but other private events.
We always jokingly called "Streets of New York" Part III since Rakim on it and it used the original beat but this is huge news OMG.
