Seeing people shyt on DJ Premier will never not be some weirdo shyt to me.

cool Preemo makes something as good as Magic or even a 4 mic album I'm goodIf the praise can be rehashed so can the criticism
You already know this will be revisited in December because the comparisons are going to happen.
This might be a dumb question, but do you guys consider this a Nas album or a collaborative album like the Freddie Gibbs/Alchemist stuff? Seems like it could fall into both categories.
The Hit-Boy produced album weren't billed as Nas & Hit-Boy but Define My Name is billed as Nas & DJ Premier :to my knowledge, NaS never had a solo album album billed as a collaboration so unless it says NaS & DJ Premier on the cover, i won't consider it one and don't see why anybody would...
Any album fully produced by one person I always think of as a collaborative albumThis might be a dumb question, but do you guys consider this a Nas album or a collaborative album like the Freddie Gibbs/Alchemist stuff? Seems like it could fall into both categories.

Most of us remember seeing the cover of Mass Appeal with the two of them on it promising an album. The fact that Nas owns Mass Appeal now and we’re actually getting the album is really bringing it full circleI don't really read much into the Nas + DJ Premier thing other than it amplifying the importance and significance of the album. Its something that fans have been wanting for long time, so billing it Nas + DJ Premier is like saying "this is the lon awaited album".

When I get the CD, I'm going to put it in line with my Nas solo albums despite the billing. I did the same with the Common/Pete Rock album. I have Distant Relatives next to the Nas albums but separate with The Firm disc.I don't really read much into the Nas + DJ Premier thing other than it amplifying the importance and significance of the album. Funnily enough this thread made me want to play The Auditorium and track 11 says "Featuring Pete Rock." Which is weird for an album billed as both of them.Once upon a time a solo with one producer producing the whole thing was the norm and never billed as a "COLLABORATION" album
and if that was the case, they'd make it into a group with a group name like Royce did with Preme for PRhyme
I get it though, we in a streaming era and putting the two names first nowadays is so the streams count on both artist. That's why you don't really see "Featuring" on singles anymore, it's more like "Gucci Mane x J.Cole" or "Travis Scott X Drake" so that way it appears on both their accounts as a MAIN SINGLE. Same as the Album.
