My issue is that the type of people who want this album the most are also the type of people who will listen to the first 3 tracks and declare that it's not as good as Illmatic, it's not as good as it would be if it came out in 1999, etc. So it's really a lose lose situation with a lot of people who sat around complaining about the Hit Boy albums. Because they're going to complain about everything since they won't just admit they haven't liked Nas since 1995 or 1996 or 1999 or 2001 or 2002.

I don't like the Hitboy albums not because i'm living in the past expecting Nas to drop another Memory Lane or Take It In Blood or Nas Is Like. I was on SOHH defending Hip Hop is Dead and Untitled when people were calling it wack.

I just don't think Hitboy is a very good producer.

But Premo ain't really done shyt either in the last 15 years so I can't say I'm expecting too much.

Ultimately, I'd prefer Nas go back to the multiple producer format.

I get it though, we in a streaming era and putting the two names first nowadays is so the streams count on both artist. That's why you don't really see "Featuring" on singles anymore, it's more like "Gucci Mane x J.Cole" or "Travis Scott X Drake" so that way it appears on both their accounts as a MAIN SINGLE. Same as the Album.
The naming like this on songs these days is also for writing credits/publishing as well, and you get credit for streams if your name is under the artist tag instead of just listed in the track title as a feature

Funnily enough this thread made me want to play The Auditorium and track 11 says "Featuring Pete Rock." Which is weird for an album billed as both of them.
I think it was just like that on track 11 because Pete rapped a whole verse on there and didn't just produce it.

Probably but in the days with CL Smooth he wasn't credited separately. Which was correct because to me they were a group whereas it feels to me like PR is producing Common but they're not a duo just like Nas and Premier aren't the same as GangStarr or even Prhyme.

Facts.

I wouldn't mind if Nas went with multiple producers.

But if he were to pick one dude today to work with behind the boards, my pick would've been Q-Tip. Without hearing a single track, I know that would be classic and his best project since the 90's. Tip is operating at a level now that is just mad unbelievable. That would've been dope to see.

My main hope is that Nas has someone to do quality control on his pronunciations. He was really bad for that on the Hit Boy run.

This isn't true by any means though. I get your multiple producers thing though, hopefully that's to come on future projects, but he needs to get this Premo album out first.

Thing is Rapper/Producer projects are doing really well recently. Get a producer with a solid vision and it CAN end up better than having multiple sounds. But that's needs to be proven now. Because that model hasn't been working as well as one creative mind helping shape a project and there is a ton of mileage left in that.

I listened to the first PRhyme album today, if Premo get's in that bag for this project :blessed:

Primo's best sh*t with Royce was "Ding".

People don’t talk about that track enough. Most people never heard it. But that sh*t was flawless. Pretty much like everything else Preem did before Guru passed.

After the LL album, I was hoping we would get a Nas/Tip Collab. Maybe they can do something in the future

I would have liked to hear what Nas was working on with Dre back in 2020. That snippet of them in the studio was dope, but then Dre went to the hospital. :mjcry:

Did Nas and Q-Tip ever do more work after Illmatic, or was it just "American Way" and the LL feature?

We saw the threads on here when those projects dropped.

There was nothing "universal" about how people felt about HB's production. We just had a thread last week speaking about the new sh*t with ALC. A ridiculous amount of people were saying the same about HB's beats for the KD work, the Benny album with ALC and others like the Dom Kennedy project. And back to outside, it's no different form what I hear from people offline too.

He's one of like three producers I hear and see people complaining about the most. Easily for the past several years.

Yes go in the threads again the majority though the albums were great production and rapping and only literally a few including yourself thought otherwise. The critics feel the same, social media feels the same Twitter/Instagram and it’s just a select few of posters on here who would argue that the 6 album run wasn’t great.
