Its so frustrating because literally all he had to do was switch up the chops on the 4 and 8 and the beat is immediately a million times better

That's what he usually does so the beat felt unfinished. I thought Premier said he wanted to do something else to it but Nas wanted it as is.

Either way that was just a loosie and shouldn't be compared to them being locked in for a full album. As long as he's on the level of Sunny Storms and EN EFF from the De La album or the last Gangstarr album I'm good. I'm not expecting Premier to be at his absolute best when he's knocking on 60.

I think the response to that record being so negative/lukewarm and them going silent for a bit, Premier referencing the feedback and it not being on the final tracklist - gives me hope that they listened and aimed for a higher standard for the album
