Premier mentioned that those albums showed that our vets can still get in and make classic sh*t together.

All of our legends silently still compete. Pete was saying that again recently. They listen to each other's sh*t, and then go create, like back in the day. So he's been waiting for his time with Nas to do the same, and I think this album is gonna have mad impact. This is what we need, for the culture. And I'm not saying that lightly. Nas and Premier back together, but this time, for a whole project during an era where people write off the GOAT's. A lot of the legends have been cooking crazily lately.

This sh*t is a big deal.

My only concern with this is that these albums are only important to a fairly small amount of people. The 35+ crowd that despite the mortgages, kids and flat tops creeping in still love this style of hip hop. The LL and Common albums did not make the waves i wouldve liked. Feel like the "jazz syndrome" is something to consider for the future.

Promised myself that i wouldnt get my hopes high for this but struggling with it.

As soon as the album drops ill stay away from opinions until i spin the record a few times. People just get on my ffuukking nerves with some of the disrespectful sshhiitt they "think"

Thank you Nas & Premier for this regardless if its a 7/10 or 11/10

There's an opportunity here to make the seminal legacy rap album. I think we're clearly in a period where vets are more active with more platforms to get their shyt off. Sooner or later there's gonna be even more, I suspect. Like a "traditional rap" category added to the Grammys, which will focus on funneling awards to our legends the same way traditional pop categories benefit Tony Bennett or Ray Charles.

Also the bar has been set so high by LL/Q-Tip and Common/Pete Rock. If this doesn't hit those heights people are gonna talk about it. And whether it does or doesn't, I suspect it'll convince even more legends to get serious about albums, collabs etc.

I’ve been saying for YEARS that the Grammys need a Best Traditional Hip Hop Album category. The genre is half a century old. Like R&B, Rock, and Country it deserves another album category.

And nas stans should lighten up about every comment (about production or otherwise) because on no other place on the net does nas get this kind of traction, and it's mostly positive.

Nas & Hit set the standard high unless we talking bout 90s producers.

To be honest, I'm fine with that.

Nas ain't worried about sales and reaching younger audiences, anymore. This is about giving the day ones the kinda music we always wanted and asked for. Him and Premier have a 30+ year following together. Those are the people they do it for. And truthfully, those are the only ones that count. At this point, it's about catering to your base and not worrying about the extras.

There shall be no questioning of Nas EVER! If he announces a collab album with Nav and Jack Harlow tomorrow you shall accept it as the most brilliant move a rapper has ever made.

You Gotdamn Right...

The self proclaimed Knucklehead is starting to get it.

You'd tell Picasso to use darker hues and feel justified. 🤔😒

I looked at every poster Premo list

its very disturbing

all the top records are from the 90s and the bottom records are from the 2000s

so that is a interesting split lol

i have not listen to a Nas album since KD1

i will listen to this one though

LL getting no Grammy nominations when he's been such a big advocate for those stupid awards surprised me. LL really did it for the fans, though, and even autographed CDs and LPs for free on his site. Plus he had to do it to those meatballs.

maybe because the last preemo track on a nas album was on 2001. all the 2000's track they did after 2nd childhood were for special compilations/anniversary projects, so the energy in quality and focus weren't the same obviously. My God :snoop:

I swear, you guys are talking about "Define My Name" like it was "Summer on Smash" or "Big Girl." It's not even like it was going to be on the album (at least I don't think so). It was meant to tease the album and celebrate the 30th anniversary of Illmatic. People in here complaining like the album cover, title, and release date were revealed last year, and they gave "Define My Name" the full single treatment with a music video. :russ:

Seriously, you guys are hilarious. Having cold sweats thinking about the possibility of it being on the album and wondering why Premier didn't chop the beat the right way. :dead:
