I wonder if he brought up the scenario where Big L snatched his chain and dotted his eye when they were younger

glad flex kept it a hunid.
on the mvp issue,.....

real dead talk,.....
big l got jerked in the label delay game.
like nas said,....
when big l dropped with finesse and devil's son dropped.

if his album came out in that envelope like it was supposed to.

it was over for anybody,.....
easily my favorite rapper in the horn loop lo fi mixing days, when it came to that sonic landscape of rap.

if his album wasn't delayed and was out in the sonic landscape.
it originally was supposed to be in.
released on time in 1993.

it was over......
alas, it never happened like that,...and the rest is what it is.
another reason why admin issues will kill you.

Dope. Was Nas saying he heard the tape of L at the Apollo in 91? If so, that shyts gotta be on YouTube right?

Sad his album ain't blow. What's worse is that Columbia didn't stick it out and put everything behind him for a second LP in like 96-97. Like they pushed Nas even though Illmatic was a commercial disappointment.

Also - one of the few times I can say I wish the record label intervened and forced them to record together. Can you imagine Nas on Lifestyles? Or L on Illmatic? Or even IWW?
Guess I wouldn't want L on Illmatic. That record was perfect. No need to tamper with it. But L could have bodied any number of records on IWW.

L wasn't the type of MC that should blow imo. I feel like his legacy is where it should be at.

Someone get flex on Combat Jack's show and not that corny complex one either, the real one. He knows where all the bodies at. I don't even like him but I know he got back stories for days.

Yeah I do think the fans try to remember L as something he wasn't, he wasn't going to do big numbers because he didn't have anything to draw in the casual listener. And I say that as a person who probably shed a tear when I heard what happened to L so I'm not hating.

But yeah the "MVP" song would have been bigger record if not for "One More Chance".

I don't agree, he had some joints that with the right promotion could have been done well. Also he had SKILL, so he could have made more great songs if he hadn't got murdered. What he did means he still gets talked about, people develop, when Jay was doing the fast style shyt people wouldn't have expected him to be where he was at eventually.

Big L was nasty....just damn disgusting

Sad he met his departure so soon

I honestly haven't listen to L in a while I might have to give his catalog a listen to again
The big picture was dope as fukk. L would have been an unstoppable beast if he was still alive.

big l was never gonna be more than a mid level fabolous/cam'ron rapper, he fathered that whole punchline shyt that mase and them nikkas ran with

but he was never gonna be #1 album in the country, at best he would've had maybe 1 plat album and the rest do gold or less

1. It's silly to talk like Fab & Cam haven't had really good rap careers, who are you comparing them too? Out of the tens of thousands of people who attempt to rap for a living they are easily in the top 1% success wise.

2. I don't think Big L was meant to ever be a mainstream star like Fab & Cam (I think they have more appeal to casual listeners) period but he could have had sustained success on an indie level with the right team around him. He was sharp, witty, clever, was a good storyteller... etc dude had a lot of talent.

This is from 2006 right? Just before or around the time he was getting ready to promote HHID. He had 2 Flex interviews one in November and I think another in December

I remember listening to it at the time and it was really dope cause it was them just talking about Hip Hop in the 80s and 90s and it was like a Juan Epstein episode.

Need to find that interview again
