The only time I ever remember "ILLmatic" getting some popular culture love was in this movie:

What's interesting is "12 Monkeys" came out 2 yeas after "ILLmatic" and it was about traveling to the Future. Ironically the movie shows a poster of "ILLmatic" in the future as if it was saying it was going to be an iconic/legendary album.

It was so ahead, thought we was all dead :ahh:

It Was Written was a better album though
:snoop:yeah, if you like a mediocre album that could've been an instant classic, if not for the half assed production. what a waste of lyricism that album was...during the times that producers were remixing albums like crazy, iww should've been the very first album on the list. i've never seen an album with such an amazing mc performance being backed up by such bullshiit on the production tip. that album is the poster child for internet revisionist history. illmatic always was and will be nas best album. it's actually the best rap album ever recorded, that's why i've been so angry with the man ever since...

If you've seen Zero Dark Thirty, one of the main characters starts quotes the Wu skit from Bring Da Rukus
