:wow:

You should live, there's only one life that's the physical
Rich or poor in jail why the fukk should you be miserable

Things happen for reasons, the clock keeps tickin'
Love could have your heart beat skippin', thugs turn to religion
The bytch you love could start to hate you
The shyt you use to do escape you

Things that make you laugh represent the past
Reminisce the block gamble gees on the floor
nikkas use to be the man, you don't see 'em no more
Your favorite restaurants and favorite stores, they tore 'em down
Turned 'em into shopping malls the hood is like a ghost town
Haunted by souls who thought that time stood still
Just live your life to the fullest, never look back, it's real

I listen to this more and more, though it's always been a special song to me. Inspiring and haunting at the same time. To think Nas was only maybe 30 years older when he recorded this, but you understand ta 30 how you really feel about your life, your old neighborhoods, your friends, it's a brilliant song.
My senior quote in high school is from this song

"Everything will eventually come to an end. So try to live for the moment, cause time flies, don't it?"

:wow:

I have a strong memory of listening to this and 'In Search Of' at the same time cos I got them for Xmas.

I think Lost Tapes is probably Nas' darkest record, hes spitting as hard as his first 2 albums but its much more breaking down life and the human condition. There's no pop songs or gangsta songs, which is probably why the label held them back.
