Nas couldn’t even keep a straight face saying that lol. He had to ride with his song off principal though. Nas for sure won the battle of the songs but that Ether beat not comparable to takeover at all. You could listen to takeover beat without Jay rapping and it would be hard. Not the same with the Ether beat

Compared to the trash that’s popular today it sounds like gold. But Takeover had a better beat.
No the fukk it don’t lol. For as much as people like to talk about how lyricism has fell off, production has actually been great over the years. To the point that people like to credit producers and engineers for and good sonic qualities songs and downplay the rappers. Ron Browz probably wouldn’t even get no placements with them beats in this era. That ether beat was always made fun of for being trash in real time

Ether's beat isn't the best but it's not as bad as other beats i've heard before. I can pull a bunch of trash that sounds way worse.

I hate that Takeover beat, that’s the main reason I didn’t like the song…for some people the beat is the reason they like it tho, lol, 
. It’s slow and boring imo, I could say the same for Ether. At least Takeover sounds like it can be rapped on tho, Ether is a weird ass beat to rhyme to, seems hard to get off on that and flow and ish like that….that ish sounds like background music for a motivational speech or sumn more so than a rap beat
