What makes them a Stan to you? For me it's someone who approves and defends EVERYTHING damn near an artist does or says.

My top 5 (no order but Pac or Nas number 1 depending on the day) are Nas, pac, face, cube, and Jay. But I can easily think of lame shyt they've done (the whole Euro Jay phase) , said (Gwyneth paltrow gets a nikka pass), or trash music (ghetto techno, once upon a time in the projects 2) they've put out. I'm a fan of their art not them as a person. I think it's weird to see rappers are superheroes as an adult.

What is a stan to you? And what makes someone defend a person who doesn't know they're alive so much? :patrice:

being a stan ties directly to where you were in life when said artist was poppin’.

Last artist I’ll ever stan was Playboi Carti. I remember where I was when albums dropped, when songs leaked, the guys I talked to about the subgenre he was apart of, the community I built…

Being a stan goes beyond the music for some, for others it may be a parasocial thing — they feel like they know the artist as a friend or family member due to their content matter or how they carry themselves.

I always find grown men calling themselves a Stan suspect, it was never meant to be a good thing when Ether introduced it into something you call someone, I don’t Stan no man only God.
Sometimes I think Eminem hates his own fans sometimes.

I agree.
When an artist becomes more of an ideal, at which point you're defending any and everything because all that matters is upholding whatever that "thing" is.

The ideal idea is interesting. What specifically do you mean about them being ideals?

a Stan acknowledges no flaws or losses when it comes to the object of their infatuation.

Plus they defend them when others talk shyt/truth about them

PLUS they attack any perceived threats against whomever they're stanning.

Honestly, they're gay-

I’ma Nas stan and I don’t give a fukk

:francis: dammit, breh

I feel like "Stan" quickly became akin to "fanboy".
An insult to fans completely blind to reality, who defend any and everything a person does, despite demonstrable evidence to the contrary of what they believe.
Stumble into the Arcadium if you want to see a few Stanley's in their natural habitat stanning the way on stans can.

You can tell somebody’s starting to become a stan when they’re not only interested in their music but they starting to pay attention to everything in that artist personal life. Who they dating, baby mommas, how many kids they got, their kids names.

They also start paying attention to their business moves outside music then start celebrating their wins like it’s their own :unimpressed:

yeah I see people going hard for Xbox or Sony. I guess it could be for anything. I think the closest I've come as adult is going overboard for a sports teams at times.
