Treach was one of the best on the mic. Songs like Craziest come to mind. But its not only that...as a youngin growing up Naughty By Nature were crossover legends. I dont even think Uptown Anthem and OPP get mentioned enough as one of the GOAT tracks. Even Hip Hop Hooray seems forgotten. You can make a case for any of these being in the top 20. And Craziest is :lawd:.

They had music for picnics, bbqs, carnivals, parties, maybe even drivebys and in the same sentence even could be socially conscious while making a hit single. fukkin legends man, peep some of these singles:

2pac in the cut :ohlawd:

I'm not sure that with NBN, the likes of Mobb Deep, Black Moon, Onyx and Lost Boyz woulda been discovered

sidenote: I seriously miss hand gestures during verses pause

the reason they get overlooked is because their crossover songs were so popular and they had so many that their other music gets overshadowed. like you said, those singles were bbq/party classics, so thats how NBN is perceived. Like if you put together their greatest hits, it would be a pretty lightweight feelgood party album for the most part.

Basically knowing how to make a hit sets your real music back... it's a shame and unfair thing in the hip hop world... kind of like how Akinyele is known as the "Put it in your mouth" dude when in fact he's known as a good MC or how Pharoache Monch is known for the hook he sung on Styles P's song "My life"

I dont think they have been over looked.....they just fell. They had good run but like most rap acts they fell off........They stopped making hits after the 3rd album.......That album they did in 1999 was weak.......then they started beefing with Kay Gee and that was the nail in their coffin. Beefing with Kay Gee was a bad look.....They were going too hard and no one really cared about naughty around that time.....I beleive that was 2002.

But they did have a good run...
