This has already been enforced they just wont allow guys to jump sideways into contact anymore...

It's the same rule they've been using, they just put it in writing.

Not so much that as clarifying that the defensive player must remain facing the opponent. Verticality has always been a key component of legal defense, at every level of basketball.

I know, but it was never outlined in the rule book. There was never anything about it in writing so it was basically a judgement call. This is just them putting words to it, but it's the exact same thing they've been calling. The titles makes it seem like they've changed or rewritten something.

I guess that flagrant foul they gave lebron had something to do with this.. Hibbert was going a bit forward.. Plus exaggerated the contact
