its funny how the Kobe era produced defensive stoppers designed to limit wing players

You had the Bruce Bowen’s, Doug Christie’s, Ruben Patterson’s, and Shane Battier’s of the world

So even 20 yrs later, these types of players are still valuable

But why has the NBA not even attempted to produce point forward stoppers?

All the point forwards in the league from Draymond to Greek to LBJ to KD to Ben, etc and there are no 6’8-6’10 230-240 lb players to defend these guys?

Maybe the higher ups in the NBA want to see point forwards thrive

They mainly defend the wing players and are generally effective against 6-3 to 6-7 players

3&D guys are not effective against the KD, Greek & LBJ, etc...

And I just mean from a containment context

Not to mention one screen and switch and the defensive stopper is useless. Whereas with Kobe/MJ they were in the post a lot. They couldn’t escape the (stopper)
