It's incredible. If you really think about it, Curry doesn't even put up superstar numbers. And yet he sells the most jerseys by far. Back in Kobe's prime, 23/4/7 befor him. He didn't win mvp those seasons. The superstar qualities must have really gone down.
His numbers were 24 & 7, and his per 36 min splits would have have at 26 & 8.5 on RIDICULOUS SHOOTING PERCENTAGES

Rose was coming off missing an entire month and some change after yet another injury, and it was his first postseason action since 2012. People were anxious, weary, nervous, and excited all at the same time of what they were going to see from the former MVP. He ended up putting up 20, 6, and 5 for the playoffs while sprinkling in a couple of 30 point games - he churned out some pretty stellar performances, including a ridiculous buzzer beater against the Cavs. He went from a 25 minute restriction upon his return, to averaging almost 40 minutes per game with no physical set backs... It didn't end like he and the fans hoped, but looking back on it, he personally had a successful postseason and return.
In short, real basketball fans want to see the kid succeed after all that he's been through and they were happy to see him balling in the playoffs again :humblerose:.
Tbh DRose is the one player everyone wants to root for or at least watch play at a high level. Brehs playstyle and aggression is lightning in the bottle... but he just hasn't been able to stay healthy. I don't know if he'd be more popular than Bron but with all the Bron hate he'd likely have been recognized as the definitive David to the Goliath, if he'd stayed healthy
