Know a lot of peeps in the state with me, knowledge is power.

NEW NORTH CAROLINA LAWS took effect yesterday , December 1, 2015.

1. REVENGE PORN: This new law makes it illegal to distribute/post explicit photos of anyone without his or his express consent if the posting of such material is intended to harass, extort or intimidate the victim. This new crime will be punished for any adult offender or repeat juvenile offender.

2. CYBERSTALKING: North Carolina has expanded the definition of “cyberstalking” to include GPS tracking of another. Exceptions apply for parents tracking their children or automobile owners tracking their own personal vehicles, as long as their intent is not to track another adult.

3. “NBOMe”: ATTENTION COLLEGE and HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS: This synthetic compound, which mimics the effects of LSD, has been added to North Carolina’s schedule 1 controlled substances. This makes it illegal to use, possess, or distribute this substance.

4. GRAFFITI: Penalties toughened to include a felony after 3 convictions.

5. FELONY SEX CRIME: As of December 1, 2015, it is now a felony for a teacher, coach or other school personnel who are less than four years older than a student to engage with sex acts with that student. This law also requires that Sheriff’s departments notify colleges or universities of anyone who reports that they are a student or employee at such institution when they supply sex offender registry information.

6. FELONY ASSAULT: It will now be a felony to assault a member of the National Guard or a doctor or other license health care provider who is discharging his or her duties.
