"But before you curl up into the fetal position, know that there is hope for NCAA Football 17.

EA Sports put the series on hiatus because it was named as a defendant along with the Collegiate Licensing Company (the NCAA’s marketing company) in the class-action lawsuits led by Sam Keller and Ed O’Bannon over “player likeness” being used without compensation.

But unbeknownst to many people, EA Sports’ litigation could come to a close soon. Like, real soon.

In May of 2014, a settlement was reached in which EA Sports and the Collegiate Licensing Company would pay $40 million to former players that were in the game since 2003 (for context, EA Sports reportedly makes $80 million per year on the game).

The final approval hearing for the settlement? Thursday, July 16th. As in, two days from now.

With the lawsuit behind them, EA Sports could immediately start working toward the continuation of the series — something it has already publicly stated it wants to do."

NCAA still going to give them the license? I thought the NCAA stopped giving out the license after they settled their part of the lawsuit...

With team builder everything is fully customizable to logos and players so if they made a game called college football 2017 but let you edit and share teams and players and edit conference names and schedules I would buy. While I wouldn't pay 59.99 for it I'll pay 39.99.

The main issue would be ratings and they wouldn't be able to insert ratings that would be a community project and that could cause problems lol

I'd buy it for 60, I just probably wouldn't buy another one

If it's FULLY customizable, there's no reason to even make another game, EA should be able to just make tweaks to the game via updates

I forgot about that. College Conferences stopped giving EA Sports their license when all of this went down, so technically they would have to be back on board as well.
