Jarred Shaw could end up losing his life over edibles.
Shaw is facing life-changing penalties for his alleged importation of a controlled substance in another country.

Shaw, an American basketball player in Indonesia, stepped down to the lobby in his apartment complex earlier this year to collect a package that would forever change his life. It contained illegally imported cannabis gummies.
The American basketball player is currently facing the death penalty in Indonesia after he was arrested for receiving those imported cannabis gummies, which are illegal in the country.

Jarred Shaw, who played for Prawira Bandung in the Indonesian Basketball League, told The Guardian that the gummies were to treat his Crohn’s disease.
The former big man for the Oklahoma State Cowboys and Utah State Aggies has played international professional basketball for roughly a decade, with his last few years being spent playing in Indonesia.

Jarred Shaw may have been unaware of the extremely strict drug laws in Indonesia after he allegedly attempted to smuggle illegal drugs into the country.

He was arrested on May 7, after police raided his apartment just outside the capital, and they seized 132 pieces of cannabis candies.

If found guilty, convicted smugglers are sometimes executed by firing squad.

Under Indonesia’s anti-drug laws, Jarred Shaw faces up to a life sentence or the death penalty if found guilty, Ronald Sipayung, the Soekarno-Hatta Airport police chief, said.

“We are still running the investigation to uncover the international drug network behind this case and to stop its distribution,” he said.

Shaw attended Dallas ISD’s Carter High School, where he was the District 11-4A Defensive Player of the Year. He would go on to play college basketball at Oklahoma State and Utah State.

Unfortunately, he had issues with the law surrounding cannabis back then as well. In 2014, during his senior year at Utah State, he pleaded guilty to marijuana possession and served a five-game suspension.

The 6-foot-11 center helped Prawira Bandung capture the 2023 Indonesian Basketball League championship and scored more than 1,000 points in three seasons.

The US govt is bombing people of color on boats for the same reason :heh:
Those are drug smugglers(probably :mjpls:) and they aren’t American. He is and he only had a few gummies, he wasn’t trying to be a drug king pin. These situations have nothing in common.

nothing in common, but a lot at the same time. Indonesia sees any drug as severe.
