HBCUs have qualified for March Madness by winning tournaments in the only two D1 divisions for HBCUs, which are SWAC and MEAC. the SWAC schools are.. Alabama A&M, Alabama State, Alcorn State, Jackson State, MVSU, Arkansas at Pine Bluff, Grambling, PVAMU, Southern U, and Texas Southern. the MEAC schools are Bethune-Cookman, Coppin State, Delaware State, FAMU, Hampton, Howard, Maryland Eastern Shore, Morgan State, Norfolk State, NCAT, NCCU, Savannah State, and South Carolina State. now i'm about to show some clips of times when HBCUs defeated PWIs in March Madness.
notice how they like putting HBCUs to face against top seeded schools in the tournament instead of having them face other small schools. but other than that the only HBCU that could have had the possibility to have made it to regional semifinals was Coppin State in 1997, when they lost to the Texas Longhorns, with a score of 81-82 in the second round.
hopefully one of these days an HBCU gets a basketball player who plays like Kobe, Jordan in their prime... maybe even a Steph Curry type of dude cause Steph did lead his small college to the regional finals and possibly could have won. but sadly that won't happen very soon cause almost all the young black ball players want to go to Duke, Kentucky, Kansas, etc because of the big name, the basketball legacy, the white women, believing that HBCUs don't provide quality education, etc.
....sorry for the random thread
