That is your label right?
Yes sir – 15 years in business still making profit, that’s some Sam Walton shyt
Have you released other artists on your label?
Yes, Mr. Hyde is my right hand man and second in command, so his music always will get released, currently its just me and him because I don’t wanna deal with other rappers, too much ego and pride, very annoying
I would like to go back in history a little. In 2007 You were part of the “Sounds of the Underground” tour. It seemed like a great opportunity for Necro to be heard by large audiences. At some point you chose to pull out of the tour. Can you bring us back to that point in your life and what caused you to leave the tour?
I had a 20 minute set every night – and every night on the tour I did my 20 minute set regardless of booing crowds and hate – but I would also tell the crowd to go fukk themselves, and sometimes get very brutal back and it was causing a lot of tension, kids would talk shyt and say lets fight and when we stepped to them, they would threaten to call the cops – I was getting hit in the chest with 50 Snapple bottles a show – and not missing a beat or rap – the reason I was putting up with this was because my manager at the time, Paul Conroy of Ferret Management, was part owner of the tour and said I cannot beat anyone up, that part of having this opportunity was being mature and taking the shyt, show them how awesome you are, and so I was getting hit with bottles and still rapping, the other bands said they had major respect for me, cuz I did my 20 minutes allocated every night without fear, most other rappers, 99% would have left after 3 shows or less, we left after doing 15 shows, the reason we left was, my DJ Carbone got hit in the head with a lighter thrown at him, and he started to bleed, and after 15 shows of taking shyt he snapped and punched one of the kids in the crowd, this lead to the managers of the tour taking us outside and complaining how everyone on the tour is tense and its gonna lead to a lawsuit, so we both mutually agreed that we shouldn’t continue with the tour, I would have nights where a young girl would be in the front row with middle fingers up saying fukk your mother!!! Hahaha
So I would retaliate with shyt like, “look at this little fukking whore bag c*nt in the front row, I fukked your a$$hole yesterday and the gape is huge” I would retaliate with things like that between songs and the head bouncer got really mad at me, and talked shyt, like I don’t got your back anymore, and we told him, are you crazy? We don’t fukking need you hahaha if it wasn’t for my manager we would be spilling blood everywhere, this is me being nice, one other thing we would do is throw water bottles at the kids and crack certain haters in the face and they didn’t see it coming, cuz we would throw the bottles full un-open underhand, in a way like an underhand pitch, but really precise and fast and it would always catch a kid in the face and make him bleed, and no one really caught on cuz it was so under the radar from all the hate we were receiving, it was so bad, that in between songs the booing was so loud you couldn’t hear me talk, they would boo into the first 30 seconds of the song and then stop due to the beat being louder than them, almost every show on this tour I had 100 Necro fans, so I would say shyt like, where my Necro fans at? And these 100 would scream, and then all the haters 1900 other kids would over power them with booing, it was kinda nuts, I don’t think any rapper has ever dealt with that before, no black rapper would have lasted more than a show, I seen Ying Yang Twins run off stage at The Gathering Of The Juggalos cuz the whole crowd was throwing shyt at them, lit firecrackers even hahaha, so it takes a lot of heart and hunger to deal with a rowdy obnoxious metal crowd, especially ignorant little kids who don’t even know who Cliff Burton is, I would do a RIP chant for Cliff, Chuck, Piggy & Dime, and these kids showed no fukking respect, its sad that this is what the metal community turned into, considering guys like Rick Rubin produced top 5 best records in both genres
Did you struggle with doubts going into it?
Actually no, I was down as fukk, we got prepared with a dope back drop, and skrims, and I had my metal hiphop songs, I was performing Suffocated To Death From God’s Shadow, but these kids couldn’t get with it, I guess not seeing a live band just made them cringe, ignorance toward the genre of HipHop and definitely not ready for a hybrid of both combined into Metal HipHop
I know it’s a seven year old question, but sort of points to who Necro is and what being independent is all about. Would you agree?
I don’t mind any question, I got an answer for almost any question, whether pleasant or not
Leaving that tour had to be a tough personal decision?
It was rather easy cuz we had did 15 in a row, and it was for shyt pay, I wasn’t getting paid much, and I was being told I cant fukk anyone up, could you imagine if I had the go ahead to fukk someone up??????????? Lol oh my god, I would have made fukking examples out of some of these haters – I would have really set the presence for how shyt is gonna be on that tour, but Ferret Management are the softest guys on the earth, the type of guys that would get offended if you sneezed next to them, they didn’t understand, Paul Conroy was in the studio listening to the master of No Remorse before it was released telling me how amazing it is, and then when he dropped me, said he had no idea I was such a violent artist and that I would be getting into drama, fukking idiot, this is hardcore hiphop, drama is natural
Did that experience change how you viewed commercial touring?
That and opening up for ICP changed how I view shyt, I don’t wanna open for other people, getting shytty pay, no soundcheck, being treated like crap and trying to impress little b*stards that have no clue about the culture, fukk that, I do shows for Necromaniacs, and I headline them and get paid G’s and I get groupies, respect, and I run the show, for that night in the club the bouncers are on my security team, or else I take shyt into my own hands and regulate anyone that needs to be regulated – much better position of power than being on someone else’s tour who doesn’t even respect you really, im down to play festivals because those are in front of 8,000+ people and have 50 artists, so its more equal and not about one headline doucebag egotistical artist who thinks you are under them – so I learned a lot from these experiences
One of the things that had always drawn me to your music was your metal influence. I always thought Necro and the metal was a perfect fit. Why don’t we hear more about Necro and metal?
Because The Metal community sucks, the people and the business side and the fans all suck balls, they hate hiphop, they have no respect for the artform even when we show metal respect, the only people that do show love are the metal musicians that love hiphop, like Igor, or Mark Morton, or Scott Ian, or Obituary, these guys are the rare musicians that made it in metal and they understand, but 99% don’t, I remember meeting Brian Slagel and dude was looking at me like I invaded his space, like I was nobody annoying him, unless he is just a weirdo which could quite be possible, I was going up to him to pay homage, and show respect for what he did in the game, but this dude didn’t wanna talk to me hahaha, and I was on the festival, the only rapper on it, Download Festival, you would think a guy like him would wanna kick it with Necro, this rare breed of hiphop that embraces metal, but almost everyone I encountered in the metal business hated on me (Borivoy from Blabbermouth is cool though cuz he is old school and understands real metal) – it’s a fukking shame, but I know this from personal experience, I had Ferret Management, so I had the right management, they had me in the right places, Download, SOTU, Metal Hammer Awards, ect. But these people just weren’t trying to hear that a rapper could be a metal head, I felt like an outsider and the funny thing is I am more metal than they are, cuz I been on stage playing legendary L’mours with Sepultura and Obituary with a B.C. Rich Warlock, how the fukk are they gonna tell me about metal when they don’t even play it, they couldn’t come up with a riff if their life depended on it, typical industry people that never create shyt, just peddle it
There has been a resurgence of 80’s and 90’s metal bands coming back into the scene, and also ones who have never left like Cannibal Corpse. What do you think allows these bands to be so successful?
Metal bands have loyal fans, kids that grew up that wanna relive their childhood and metal is the type of genre that is mainly cult and underground so it makes sense, plus touring is always a big thing for a band, as long as they tour fans will come out to check them
We both share a love for the band Death. Did you hear they are going to be doing another “Death To All” tour. Do you have any plans to attend?
How can there be a tour if Chuck is deceased?
I have to admit it’s not the same without Chuck. But its nice hearing those songs played live again.
I feel you, I don’t attend shows really unless I’m the performer, too busy working on own career
Are there any metal bands you’re still listening to these days?
Metallica, Slayer, Obituary, Sepultura, Sabbath mainly
What are you listening to hip hop wise?
I listen to my music and occasionally I watch the newest releases from other rappers since everything gets posted online
You have done a lot of cool things in the music world and out of it. What have been your favorite things and are there goals you are still looking to achieve?
I just wanna do another decade of great music so I got 2 decades under my belt, that means a lot to me, music is my life, and then I want to have a family cuz life is short and I never had that really
Is it still about big t*ts, p*ssy and getting fukked up or has the focus changed over the years for you?
It’s definitely all about big t*ts and p*ssy and sexy female ass, but sure I have matured, and soon I want to settle down with a wifey, just have to find the right girl
What’s next for Necro?
I want to drop like 200 new songs for my fans, just gifts to them, sure it will be on itunes, but it will be everywhere else too, some will be part of albums on cd and vinyl, some will be singles digitally and on 12” vinyl, I got a lot of hot ideas that only Necro could manifest and this needs to be given to the fans
Let people know where they can check out your music, buy merch and hook up with you online
