I hate to be part of the military, especially with the current regime and my moral philosophies which would be compromised. If I served, it would purely be out of self-interest though.

I'm 36. I'm aged out, but I've heard I can get waivers. Is that true?

I also had back surgery many years ago, but am always in better shape than anyone I'm around. Would I need a medical waiver for that, or should I just lie and never mention my previous injury to get in?

Go to the Air Force look for a waiver if you need one for age or maybe join reserves then switch over to active. Don’t bring up shyt about injuries. Select a job that translate to the outside world.

this, plush benefits, pension, disability, and some protections; for instance if you are a in the reserve doing you one weekend a month and a regular job...but you want to make extra money or sick of dealing with your regular job...hope on acitve duty orders and you will be collecting your regular job lay and the active duty pay...also, your regular job cant fire and by law they have to keep your position. :sas1:

if you not doing shyt else with your life why not trey something to 100% benefit you.

Air Force doesn't really appeal to me, but they have the highest age allowed I think. I'd prefer the army or even USMC (yes, lots of physics grunt work which I like though). Maybe this is just my perception?

You need to talk to a recruiter about your back. I wouldnt lie as if you had your back surgery in the last 10-15 years or so, its going to flag in your records.

Your age is only a factor if you're trying to be a pilot. And even then, you might could get a waiver if you're a extremely qualified candidate.

Why do I keep getting conflicting information about lying shot my surgery vs. being honest? I had my surgery 14 years ago

If he gets accepted, he'll get unlimited back treatment for free.

It is not his best bet.

His best bet at 36 is AF

Unless you ready to live your life on the ship at 36 without any real knowledge on how to do that..

There’s a possibility he won’t see sea time in the Navy but not likely. There’s a physical toll people don’t think about as well.. especially coming in with younger guys that will be doing grunt work first few years might be tough at 36. And you have to, for the most part, know wtf you're doing on a ship because it’s different than being on land.

A lot of cats at 36 have spent 18 years doing this in the Navy..

But who knows, it’s a new military now. If he has his degree, he should try to go officer in any branch

Because a lot of folks don't know about MHS Genesis. BLUF: the DOD has access to your private medical records via a data sharing platform called MHS Genesis. Around 5-10 years ago, most Hospital networks converted over to digital records that are stored on cloud databases. All of these various networks, including the DoD, share info with one another (as this way, patients have a greater continuity of care between providers).

Unless you were seen and treated by a very small clinic that's unaffiliated with a larger hospital (and you haven't gotten any further treatment related to your back since your surgery), your records are probably digital and can be referenced by the DoD, especially during the enlistment/initial processing phase.

I have seen people 6 weeks into Basic Training get discharged because of something in their medical record that gets flagged.
