hey yall i'd appreciate any help. I'm beginning to appreciate boxing more so i'd like to really learn about it so i can watch fights more educated to what's being done by the fighters. I was wondering if there were any tutorials, documentaries, etc. on boxing that teach someone to appreciate the beauty and difficulty of it?

The best way to learn about boxing and fully appreciate it's beauty is to go train at a boxing gym. If you can't do that then I'd say just watch as many fights from different eras that you can. Start off with the wars like Gatti/Ward and Corrales/Castillo then gradually work your way to the chess matches like Leonard/Hearns. You'll start seeing the difference in strategy and how different skill sets are applied in the ring.

I can't think of any boxing documentaries/tutorials off the top of my head so my bad if what I said doesn't help.

breh before you go to the gym, get a heavybag gloves and a round timer. Get up to doing 5x3 minute rounds before you enter that gym or you're gonna be throwing up the first day

That shyt builds character. Theres no substituting being with an actual trainer. He'll develop bad habits training on his own.

I agree, a better way to put it is don't go to a gym if you're not semi fit already.

Nothing will get you into boxing shape except boxing. They'll bring you along slowly until youre ready.

I see a lot of people use the "i wanna wait until i get in shape" excuse for not doing stuff. Especially in BJJ...when in reality you will get in shape just by showing up and going thru the motions.

I've always been a fan of boxing since I was a youth. But going in the ring and fighting for 3 minutes and throwing punches against someone will make you gain mad respect for the sport. In fact if you set a timer for three minutes and just throw punches and move you will see how hard it is and the dedication it takes to be a boxer. But as far as fights you can look at the Thrilla in Manilla Barrera vs Morales 1 and Castillo vs Corrales to see what makes boxing the savage and great sport that it is. Then you can look at Floyd and Pernell Whitaker to learn the beauty of boxing which is hit and don't be hit.

thanks for the feedback. I've been thinking about resuming training (i used to train judo for a year till i became injured and developed an addiction to pringles and sitting haha) and i've always loved striking arts like Boxing but just never payed attention to the technical aspects and intricacies of it. Im gonna check it out.

If anyone has some good vids though that'd be great.
