You should always purchase music you enjoy if you can afford to, just to support the artists you enjoy, but yeah...
If you don't have a credit card and need one to sign up for a service, there's always prepaid credit cards like greendot or walmart cards, I use them frequently for online purchases, because i rock tin foil hats lol

I'm trying to use google's music service (the free one) but it asks for a credit card.
Is there any way to skip that ?

no there isn't sorry, atleast not that i know of, also with google the card has to have your name or someones name on it, so out the gate prepaid cards won't work you have to register them and they will mail you the card with a name on it you can use on google play store

Yeah but I was told to upload music I have through do it through my PC
Choose the "Use Standard" option.
And when I try to it asks for a credit card even when I click on use standard
I just looked it up. You're required to have a payment method setup on your Google Play Account.
