Need ideas for chicken slow boil ...(prob using crock pot)

Usually I'd ask my sister, ma, or daddy for ideas ...but all my folks short of brother are currently vacationing down in Florida.



Slow cooked chicken:
(gumbo or soup)

I randomly got the idea to drop some chicken into some water and slow cook it till the meat falls apart & tenderizes. Now I'm trying to think what to add to it :patrice:
While my ma cooks standard soul food; my daddy is the one who does stuff like...creole, bbq, asian.
Knowing him he would do stuff like throw shrimp & rice in the pot along side the chicken.:wow:

But i want it to be a bit more hardy than that(need some veggies) but also taste good(need seasoning ideas).


NOTE:
Some stuff you can't really slow boil because it comes out mushy:scust: thats why i'm trying to get an idea of a good blend.:jbhmm:

Buffalo wing sauce, buns,and bleu cheese :wow:
I'm making a gumbo or soup bruh, not sandwiches:hubie:




Though I could switch it up and slow bake it till tender then pull the chicken meat into strips and put it on a bun. :jbhmm: I might save that idea for another day.:ehh:
I'm not sure how to get the chicken tender enough(without boiling or bbqing) to make it "pulled chicken". I don't have a bbq grill now either.:francis:

This doesn't really work with chicken. It's very lean. Slow cooking / crockpots are designed for meats that contain a lot of connective tissue.

Agreed, thats why I mentioned "prob" using crock pot. Depending on what else I put in the pot.
Crockpots are also good if you are cooking it all together and want the taste to permeate all the ingredients.


Also, I don't have any stock pots...

Slow boil like the potato, corn, shrimp, crab, sausage, garlic low country boil? Chicken on bone or breast? The boneless chicken breast or thighs will shred nice, but the bones and parts of the chicken will not be good in a gumbo style. You could just do the gumbo and use chicken, or do a jambalaya, and add sausage.

I've also recently started using the Montreal chicken seasoning, and it's good on most chicken dishes.

How long are you considering a “slow cook”?

Gumbo usually takes me about 4 hrs or so give or take. Obviously prep ties into that too but as far as meat is concerned Chicken goes in first because of how much longer it takes to cook down.

celery, onions, butter, old bay, soul seasoning, lemon pepper...throw potatos and carrots in an hour or so before u turn it off...nice stew ...u can make dumplings if u want:yeshrug:

Cook chicken til tender boil spaghetti noodles and get them tender. Grab a block of Velveeta rotel and cream of chicken. Combine cheese rotel and cream of chicken you can also add cream of mushroom in ya crockpot. Melt down like dip and combine chicken and spaghetti til warm enough for you. Voila chicken spaghetti
