Kind of tired of renting modems and one of my wireless routers is down for the count.
I need to pick up the router today in store.
What do you guys suggest?

Also considering getting a roku box, are there actually decent channels, can I see any sports games for free(would be cool to get premier league/champion league games) or should I just grab another apple tv? Which model is worth buying?

Get a cisco or asus router. You can likely find a used cable modem for your carrier of choice easily on craigslist or ebay.

What I got now:

Modem (Motorola SB6120)
M151-2500-vendor-sp.jpg

Router (Netgear WNDR4000)
WNDR4000_6.jpg

Bought them a while back so there are later models out, but these don't give me any shyt and I swear by them. I'm with comcast btw.

Motorola Modem.

Asus or Netgear 900 series or above Router.

Roku has a youtube app now but if you got an Apple device get the Apple TV for Airplay.

or

NETGEAR Nighthawk AC1900 Dual Band WiFi Gigabit Router (R7000)

I just got mines today....got my little network running as good as I think it can...the most I can get is 50mbps from my provider and I'm always getting over 50...I average 55mbps since I got it. I was hesitant on it because it said for professionals but I'm hoping I future proofed myself at least for the next 5 years.

Yeah that's not your average traditional, it's a powerful router.. On the 2.4 ghz im getting over 60 mbps and on the 5ghz im getting over 110 blows away verizon shytty modem. Congrat's breh it's the fastest router out and the newest model from asus with amazing range and speed. Just make sure your firmware is up to date. It's also a great router for streaming and gaming.

Do you use both 2.4 and 5? I only have mines marked for 2.4 because I read that the ps4 is only capable of 2.4....or can I put it on 5 and the rest of my devices access that while leaving the ps4 as the lone device on 2.4?

Yes, I use both since my 2 tablets and laptop support the 5 ghz band so they connect to that. Your correct the ps4 connects to 2.4 since 5 ghz isnt supported.
