It sounds lighthearted now because its been 20 years since and everybody is older and cordial. 2. He had to admit he only did it for Ashanti because Joe framed it as Nelly taking up for Joe in the beef between 50/Gunit vs Fat Joe/Murder Inc.
Nelly did right straightening shyt out and letting everyone now Joe was full of shyt and that wasnt him "defending Joe" it was some shyt with his lady and he was cool with 50 anyway. If he let Joe go on w/o checking him, it would seem like Nelly punked 50 and made him apologize.
