When I heard it was Avigdor Lieberman who deep sixed it I was like :dwillhuh:

He was like "EVERYBODY will do national service" :ufdup:Low key, I wonder if he is thinking Netanyahu won't survive this investigation and is cleaning his credentials to ally with Benny or whomever.

I wonder if Trump will have the cards politically to play to help Bibi in September like that Golan tweet before the last election.

:dwillhuh::dwillhuh::dwillhuh: wtf is going on??? You telling me they gonna do a recount???

Nah, they doing a whole new election in September. Under the Israeli parliamentary system, the winning coalition has a timetable to organize a government. Netanyahu couldn't do it after two extensions, primarily because he wanted coalition partners to pass a law that would give him (and other Knesset members) immunity from criminal prosecution. They had big demands for power to do this and once he missed the 2nd deadline, his opponent Benny Gantz was going to be given the chance to start a government so Likud called elections.

So there voting for a new president? What’s going on?

Voting in the election for their preferred party. You don't have the prime minster directly on the ballot but he/she is implied by the party you vote for and the coalition it is in. In Israel, parties get Knesset seats in proportion to the votes that get in districts. Once the party seats are defined in the Knesset the winning coalition gets to choose the Prime Minister and cabinet. Netanyahu was supposed to be PM but his coalition partners were holding him over a barrel since he needs this immunity bill and they took too long so it's back to the polls again...

Why did his coalition partners refuse to bargain with him? Is there some sort of power struggle in his party?
