Is there a show (in modern times) with a dark-skinned mom, dad and kids that's financially well-off without resorting to crime?

or just a black family show with two actual black parents(a beautiful brown or dark mother) without the cac humor/try hard over compensation of proving their blackness? and no ties to the life of the celeb/movie star/music artists and without resorting to crime/drugs? At least fresh prince was funny. I feel like we’ve already seen the depiction and the humor in the trailer before. We get it, just because they’re rich doesn’t mean they aren’t in touch with their blackness, don’t have issues, etc. It feels like we’ve seen it before.

We tend to always do comedy sitcoms, drama/soap opera, crime, reality tv, and music. Let’s try a different angle. Would love to see more black fantasy/paranormal, sci-fi, mystery/horror shows featuring the average middle class black family.

I like how people hate Black-ish and Black AF yet stan the Cosby Show and the Fresh Prince, like they weren't uppity Black folk.

Its become harder to get love as time has passed. I don't know where it started but people are more cynical now.

Those shows didn't have to meet the same standards.... Would "A different world" get that same love today? Or is Whitney too light skinned ..... Is the cast of Living Single Dark Skinned enough? Hillary and Carlton would be dragged for being corny.... "That's not a real depiction of black people!" Twitter would shout.... And don't get me started on Family Matters.... A black cop that never speaks on the injustices that happen daily at his job? nikka PLEASE!

Back then: Everyone rushed to support black shows and enterprises. We helped each other; That was the rule.

Today: Everyone rushes to criticize and announce why a black show isn't worthy of our support. The cast aint darkskinned enough. The protagonists professions aren't to my liking. They are too corny, or too rich, or too poor. And if its not that; then criticize the creator. Sure maybe the cast is all ADOS, All Lawyers, All middle class and genuine people, but one of the writers has a Mexican wife :sas2: or the camera crew has a 4:1 cac/black ratio :sas1:

Its wild, but I have seen the most militant nikkas in the world lavish these white shows like Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad and The Office with praise, then shyt on EVERY BLACK SHOW SINCE THE WIRE..... Its fukking WILD.

Not accurate depictions of YOUR black life maybe. There's poor black people, there's middle class black people, there's rich black people, and there's extremely wealthy black people. Just because you can't relate doesn't mean it's not real.
have you looked at any of the wealth data for black americans at all? or you just running your mouth about shyt you know nothing about?

Actually I have.

I think that you're the one just running your mouth about shyt you know nothing about.

You want it to be one way, but it's the other way :stopitslime:

This Is Us has everything except the dark skinned mom. But she’s unquestionably Black. Great portrayal of a Black family imo. But, of course, they’re just one piece of a larger puzzle.

Good point, but to be fair....

Many black shows in the 90s still managed to show well of blacks with no stereotypes while still feeling black. Look at Martin and Fresh Prince. They felt authentic.

Something has always felt off about newer shows like Blackish.
:russ: Martin had mad stereotypes!!!!!

Raising Dion is not bad for the sci-fi/paranormal angle. Single mom, dad is gone (but not from neglect or anything stereotypical). It's pretty good so far....

I want more of this as well, I have for a long time. The only thing that has that rn is Black Lightning and Raising Dion iirc.
