Yeah this is how pricing strategy works. You set an attractive price and get a bunch of subscribers/establish a solid market share, and then you slowly raise the price over the years as your costs are likely going to increase and you need to keep your margins at a target rate. Literally every major company does it. Not saying it doesn't suck, but I understand why they do it.

Sidenote: In some aspects cable looks like a good deal with all these streaming packages running your pockets

Yep. I sometimes pay for 2 months, binge on all the shows I want to watch and cancel it. Come back again in about 6 months time and repeat.
