What if you could watch every episode of
Breaking Bad
and Stranger Things 50 percent faster?

That’s a feature that Netflix is quietly testing, and it’s quickly drawn a big backlash from Hollywood creatives.

First noted by Android Police, savvy mobile users of the streaming service spotted a new feature on the Netflix Android app that allowed subscribers to speed up (or slow down) playback without muting the volume (to playback speeds 0.5x, 0.75x, 1.0x, 1.25x or 1.5x, respectively). The feature is not unlike what most podcast and audiobook apps already have and is used by some listeners to consume content more quickly (or, in some cases, to slow it down if they have a difficult time understanding it).

This does not surprise me in the least. Hollywood needs to understand that they are creating a product and people will consume that product anyway they see fit.
I don't agree with it, but then again I don't binge watch things that I enjoy.
Now wings, I could binge on them.

Artsy types are so pretentious sometimes. So fukking what if it's there as an option:yeshrug: I know the feature is there for podcast and I never use it cause I don't like the sound distorted, but I understand the usefulness for those who do. Sometimes people may just have shyt to do but still wanna make some time to check it out. Newsflash to artist and directors, everybody doesn't consume your art in the manner that you desire. Continue to create and allow the consumer to enjoy in the manner they see fit.

But these are directors and actors complaining because their work can be manipulated and viewed in ways they dont like, the consumer doesnt care because they can choose whether to watch faster or not
