It was because the kept delaying the production along with staff changes/rewrites. I believe there was a fire or something in one of the buildings they shot in that delayed shooting for months as well

reading the article looks like half of this amount is due to the production stops and restarts/reshoots. they really didn't plan that well from the jump. it also tells me that Netflix isn't really sweating the price tag. What are Netflix profits looking like
