I say Camry is kind of tr best ebt cause anything goes wrong it doesn't cost an arm or leg to fix and it was probably owned by an old lady which did all of the maintainance on it so it might be a win win for you

just put 300-400 away every month in a safe ETF for the next 3-4 years it should build up enough to the point you can buy another car cash or be able to purchase a new car mostly cash

they are basically a portfolio of indexed stocks or bonds or commodities in a certain sector they have low fees and you don't have to actively manage them by always checking individual stocks so for instance if you get an etf that mimics the s&p 500 on average it will do 8-10% a year it will be volatile at times but if you have a 3-4 yr horizon you should be ok putting in that money in your savings for the car saving purposes
3 years of 400 dollar savings at say an 8% growth rate will get you around 16500 at the end and a 500 dollar savings every month will get you a little over 20,000 in the cash account

but ride with that car for now and just save your car payment towards a future vehicle for the next 3 years and buy something you want to keep for like 10 years. For instance a 4 door wrangler always keeps their value for the long term and you can put in large tires lift it and put a hemi in it later down the line

Run the VIN and all that on it too. I'm car shopping now and I'm finding a ton of whips with odometers rolled back, frame damage, multiple accidents, etc.

Damn that's a good look then. At least you have some kind of history on the owner and possibly the repairs. That new car search is a bytch (3 weeks, over $600 in rentals and counting for me)
