I don't know, the golden era was what it was organically, no one asked if it was the beginning of a new golden era and the conditions that led to it can't be duplicated. Part of the reason it was called that era is because the music was making such an impact on a commercial level and was becoming the most popular genre in music; I don't think Hip Hop has the same impact culturally like it did then because the music is influenced by so many other genres now and the music doesn't make the commercial impact it once did across the board. Some dudes sell yeah but in that era, SO MANY cats sold records whether it be gold or platinum or multi platinum.
They were setting trends in fashion rather than following them and everyone wanted to outdo their last record or the next MC..that spirit of competition now isn't the same which isn't a diss, just an observation. The music has become less about rebellion and more about fitting in. Grant it there are MCs who have substance in their music so it's not a dark age by any means but I don't think it will replicate that era because the world is just different and the country is in a different place than it was then; that era was it was because of more than just music.
