Anyway, they're just doing this to sell the remaining 3DS games this year and then move on after next March. This is no different than the Game Boy Micro after the DS came out, not to mention the numerous times a second slim version of a console comes out right after a new console is announced.

Pass. I'm still rocking the original 3DS XL and with the Switch there's no need to upgrade.

3DS is at the end of it's lifespan I give it 3 years tops but it has a fantastic library of games while Switch's library is still growing. I do see Nintendo scraping the 3DS for the Switch Mini, Switch XL and Switch VR in the future BUT I do see the 100 - 200 market which 3DS can do really good in especially for kids.

It costs the same or close to the same as a n3ds xl. The question is why would you get this when you can get that
