My dude...can u explain whats the difference between FLAC an like mp3 or wma? Im not a producer/beat head like that...

I just recently got into the whole high quality audio shyt. Basically, your average mp3 file takes the music and compresses it into a smaller file for obvious reasons. However, it does this by searching for aspects of the music which is can take out without it causing a significant difference. This is a problem because who is to say which sounds make a difference or not, and the smaller the file the more of the music you lose. Thus, FLAC and other file types like it are called "lossless" music, it keeps every single aspect of the music so that you hear what the people in the studio hear when they record it. You can go to places like hiphoplossless.com or alllossless.com to find FLAC albums, I think it is worth it but had to get an external hardrive because them shyts are like 400 mb an album

10 star interview...just the possibilities of what he was talking about alone..

every rapper, every producer up in the coli needs to watch this interview.

just in case you THOUGHT you were going crazy feeling the way timb is feeling when he talks about ye as well as music in general.

whats currently lacking in commercial hiphop is that emotion and the ride albums use to take you own. its coming back. slowly. ya boy kendrick started it off. actually let me keep it real. even though i was never a great fan of the label plant called drake. i always gave him props for having his own sound. his albums have an emotion attached to them. you feel some type of way when you listen to his music. kendrick's album took you on a ride. thats how that golden era hiphop became golden. most of those albums took you on a ride. some where along the way that stop being the case. and most songs started to lose the emotion in the melodies/samples, production. and the emotion in the lyrics died as well. good beats with zero emotion = a song you like for 2 weeks tops and then its trash again.

what he said about kanye needed to just concetrate on being a MCEE is true. producer rappers can never fully do their best on both fronts at once. one of them will suffer. either the raps or the beats. even if you cant tell. he does need TIMB playing his DR. DRE. i believe all MCEES need an overseer producer to guide their music. this is the one problem with so many available beats now. mcees can go and just pick beats from all over and put it together themselves. but yall wonder why yall aint blowing yet?. cause you dont have your OWN SOUND. you have someone elses sound. you're picking beats that would sound good for DRAKE, WAYNE, WALE, COLE, etc. the beat says "WALE TYPE BEAT" when you downloaded it. lol.

but yall mcees dont know this. a very very small portion of even great rappers have very good ears for music. Rick ross is one of them. Nas it not. Jay z is one of them.

and to the producers that think they can do it on their own. sure you can. but your music would be twice as hot if you had someone on the drum programming if thats not your thing, or someone on the keys if thats not your thing. stop being so selfish. everybody can get money if you blow? think about it.

and for the part he kicked about being independent. TRULY independent. its true. you dont have to go plat to make a living.

to make it simple. mp3's especially the really small ones like 128, it will compress it to the point where the bass will come out thicker. and the highs will become more edgy.

the problem with thicker bass in some instances is that lets say you have a 808 deep note drum kick that holds. so you get that SUPER LOW kick. and you also have a bassline in the song thats some what low. you will not be able to tell the difference between those two sounds when they occupy the same space during the song. it will be meshed together as one sound. thats what happens when its compressed and some info is thrown out, and other info is assumed.

the highs are easier to hear how it changes. you can no longer hear the very high cymbals, hi hats, etc. it starts to just sound like white noise hits. vs hi hat hits.

again its just assuming what it thinks has been recorded, when it compresses everything an plays it back as a mp3.

Timb been schooling Ye in the studio for years :pachaha:

KANYE WEST & TIMBALAND WORKING ON "STRONGER" [PRODUCERS TV] - YouTube

Would be dope with a album where him and Ye argue and just go at it for months. Timb wil probably bring the best out of him.
some people probably just watch that video and was like :merchant: are these nuccas talking about. the kick was cool how it was on the original song.

kanye was right with what he heard after hearing his song on the radio. and timbo was right about what he needed.

he needed more of a KICK to match the BOOM of the 808. so you could have the full effect. its a KNOCK that comes with the kick. the boom comes with that 808. when you find the right kick and boom. its the best thing on earth for hiphop music. that kick/knock sound is like the TOP of a POT. sure you can cook without the top. but its better to have the pot and the pot top. cause ya never know what you might cook up.

Serious post!

People talk a lot of shyt about Drake, but dude definitely has his own sound. I've been try'na make that point since So Far Gone. You made a great point in MC's needing their own sound. That's really what made the golden age of production so dope for the Dre, Pete Rock, RZA, and Premier's of the game. That signature sound.

I can agree that Nas' ear for beats isn't on the level of a lot of cats. I think production has been his biggest issue since after It Was Written. He spoke on it when they asked him why he worked with Salaam so much, and he said he goes with what feels right at the time. I think havin' that one producer oversee your album, like how it was back in the day, is what's missin' from Hip Hop today. I dug what Tim was saying about wantin' to work with Kanye. He has the vision already and they haven't even stepped in the studio yet. I think that's exactly what Ye needs.
