New Xbox One 1TB Console Unveiled
Today, we’re unveiling the Xbox One 1TB console, with a new matte finish and more storage for your games and media. But that’s not all. We’re also including our newly designed Xbox One Wireless Controller, and in select regions for a limited time, Halo: The Master Chief Collection.

The new Xbox One Wireless Controller now features a 3.5mm stereo jack that lets you plug a headset right into the controller. You’ll have the option to adjust headset volume, mic monitoring, and voice and game audio balance through the Settings menu on your console. In addition to audio improvements, we’ve fine-tuned the bumpers and enabled wireless firmware updates on the updated controller which eliminates having to connect the controller via USB cable to receive updates. What’s more, you can purchase the new controller ($64.99 U.S. MSRP) as a standalone item in black as well as a new camouflage design in silver and black with the Xbox One Special Edition Covert Forces Wireless Controller.
Xbox One 1TB consoles will start shipping to retailers June 16 in the United States and select markets later this month and will be available starting at $399 USD ERP. We’re also pleased to announce that starting today, the $349 USD price on all standard Xbox One 500GB consoles will be permanent in the United States and select regions.
And finally, we are happy to announce that starting this Fall, you’ll be able to purchase the Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows to enjoy the freedom and convenience of the wireless controller on Windows 10 PCs, laptops, and tablets. The Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows will be available for $24.99 U.S. MSRP or bundled with an Xbox One Wireless Controller for $79.95 U.S. MSRP and sold in most markets where Xbox accessories are currently available.
Check out Xbox Wire for more news related to the Xbox One 1TB console and new Xbox One Wireless Controller.

As I stated in this thread. The controller is the same with the exception of the addition of a 3.5mm jack which removes the requirement for that cash grab adapter. The bumpers/impulse triggers are also the same yet "Fine Tuned". Controllers can now be updated wirelessly and you can now adjust volume levels via the console UI.

Is this really a great move by Microsoft? The savvy consumer is going to see that the 1 TB is necessary if you're serious for gaming, but the savvy consumer will also know that you can get a 1 TB external hard drive for roughly $50. You basically can get a 1.5 TB console for the $400 price tag of the 1 TB console. The general consumer is probably going to purchase the console believing that 500GB is more than enough for what they are trying to do. I see this helping the $350 model, but let's be honest with the crazy deals lately this isn't even impressive, and I don't see the 1 TB console selling well at all.

1 TB should have been the standard model from day one and to be completely honest I have a 1TB on my PS4 right now and its already about 75% filled. These consoles are supposed to last about 5 years or more. I can see me needing at least a 2TB unless I just delete stuff off the HDD from time to time.

Yep at the end of the day though the casual consumer is just going to go with the cheapest options more times than not :yeshrug:

I don't even consider myself super casual but I bought the 500 GB console thinking:gladbron: "I'm never going to run out of space"..... :skip:

Had to cop that 2TB with the quickness

I got the 500 gb XB1. Downloaded The master chief collection digitally, installed sunset overdrive, and ori and the blind forest. I looked at the HDD space and it already says its 50% full.

They've had white xbox ones for a while now. Do you mean a white console with the 1tb drive? BestBuy was having deals for a white console with the master chief collection for $350 not too long ago too.

I usually just uninstall anything I'm not playing so storage isn't a problem on the ps4, but I heard installs on the one take a long ass time so I may just dish out the extra 50 bucks.

That's exactly the problem. Sure you can uninstall and re-install later. But I find that the installs take WAY too long. What happens when you want to play a game you haven't played in a minute? Chances are, you won't ever play it again because as soon as you get that urge and see that install time pop up you just give up and play something else.
