city's perspective probably: give a $100 incentive :hula:or buy even more testing kits, hire more nurses to administer tests, increased testing lab costs, economic downturn due to more sick people, more costly healthcare expenses for city employees and family members thats covered, et cetera.

If everyone elgible got boostered did, then that'll likely cost the city $100+ million.

That same $100+ mil could build a small hospital, which would bring short term construction jobs; long term jobs in medical staff(doctors, nurses, admin) and non medical staff(janitors, security).

I don't know about y'all but I rather they use that $ for a hospital, that'd be alot more beneficial to the city's health and economy(more middle to upper middle class jobs). :patrice:

they already did the math, this is only being offered at city run sites. if you can't see that $100 incentive is cheaper than the alternative of spending way more money on numerous other covid resources, I don't know what else to tell you.:francis:

that $100 incentive is targeting a specific subset of people. there are millions of new yorkers who won't be seeking it out.

But we already lack hospitals, they just closed one in Brooklyn not too long ago :dwillhuh:

Not too mention, NYC is a city where the middle class is evaporating fast. Not only would the hospital bring good paying jobs(both short term and long term), it would have a positive effect on whatever eateries are in the area the hospital is.

Lastly, let's not ignore the elephant in the room, which is that Omicron appears to be far less likely to cause hospitalization than Delta. This vax or die strategy both in NYC and nat'l is short sighted, we lack hospitals, and alot of ppl don't have access to health care.

Even if we all got boostered, we're still vulnerable to the next pandemic, and it's a matter of time before it all falls down on us.
